Stronghold warlords economic campaign12/8/2022 ![]() ![]() The story of each campaign only provides the briefest of outlines, although the mission design is generally good, and provides some nice variation. The problem with the campaigns is that there's little personality instilled in them, and they just feel like static missions to complete. Each campaign focuses on a different lord, like Genghis Khan or Hideyoshi Toyotomi, thereby providing a few unique units as well. There are five different campaigns to choose from, four being combat-focused and one being economic-focused. You can accumulate gold from trading food, and actually cease unit production when you have a critical mess around the southwestern and southeastern areas.Stronghold Warlords has a few different game modes to choose from, with the main focus being the campaigns. Concentrate rather on your own warlords instead, and have whatever you need to trickle in order to build up your wood and stone stocks. When you have your own land secured, don't go after Zhuo, as he will not yield you anything and his stronghold would cost lots of troops. After an attack, be quick to grab warlords on your side for additional support: the wood will come in handy from all you can get. Spear tribesmen are good fodder against them. They particularly like to target your clumped up units, so be sure to focus them first either with your archers, or melee units. Later on, the enemy will send raids of varying size backed with fire arrow carts and catapults. You can trade your surplus food, so whenever you can spare some, convert them into gold to fund your troops and workshops. From the wood you can get (also use the Ox warlord to send wood shipments continuously!) build eventually more farms and more weapons workshops, with a focus on bow production. Enable the consumption of both food types and set taxes to 2. The same can be told to the southeastern warlord: let them be captured, while Zhao has little to no troops left.Īfter the first batch of invasions is history, extend your economy with rice and vegetable production. The warlord on your side of the river will however hold out well, and he will be useful in thinning out the first invasion. Forget about the warlords south to Zhao, as they are far out of reach and can't be controlled with your measly forces. He attacks from two directions: his castle, and from the southeastern passageway, and he brings artillery along with his usual auxiliary force. Zhao Tuo will come roughly after you grab your first warlord. He should come under your control in no time. To take on the enemy warlord, recruit at around 10-15 spear tribesmen and engage him together with your axemen. Barricades are nasty to deal with, so focus them first. You can also use your lone fire arrow cart to chip away at enemy units, then the warlord. They will attack the ground forces of your rival, who will start rushing to your position. Carefully remove all stone walls to regain some stone, then erect a small tower directly facing the Ox warlord and put all your auxiliary archers there. Grab all troops, order them to one place overseeing the closest Ox's territory, but don't attack yet. You will need to extract whatever you can from this before you would be dependent on warlord assistance. You should start by building 5 wood camps around the small tree patch. The ideal strategy involves grabbing a warlord or two before the attacks begin. This is the first mission that will really put you on your toes, as you will have to fend off attacks from multiple directions, all of which comes regularly, and in size. You are given an incomplete, very small castle along with a respectable resource pool and some garrison. Your starting area has limited stone and wood nodes, which forces you to get resources from nearby warlords. The river can be crossed in the south-east, between two Ox territories. Zhao is entrenched in a peninsula to the east, across a river that also borders your starting estate. A total of six warlords occupy the area, all Oxen, with four on a your land and two on Zhao's. It's up to you to stabilize the region and remove Zhao before he could get a foothold. He is poised to emerge and like Thuc did, he starts laying siege to his adjacent adversaries. This is mission 5 in the Stronghold Warlords military campaign, Jungle Kingdoms.Īs Thuc Phan establishes a new empire, Au Lac, the Chinese dynasty starts threatening it right away: Zhao Tuo breaks off the Qin court and founds Nanyue, as he seeks independence. ![]()
